Defensive Carbine
This is an intermediate level course. Your basic safety skills should be second nature before signing up for a class of this level. The Forge Defensive Practical Carbine course, or an equivalent, is highly recommended (but not required) previous to this course.
Students will learn the proper use of cover/concealment and shoot from unconventional and less than desirable positions. Students will learn to resolve equipment malfunctions under stress. Pistols will be incorporated into this course for weapon transition drills. This course will teach the fundamentals of engaging targets that pose a threat. You will be subjected to physical and mental stress/fatigue throughout this course. Your gear and equipment will be tested. You will learn some of the limits of yourself and your gear! This course is designed to teach students how to perform under realistic conditions.
Required Equipment:
- Working semi-automatic pistol AND carbine with at least 3 magazines for each firearm
- Gun belt with at least 2 pistol mag pouches, at least 1 carbine mag pouches, and holster (no Serpa unless required by agency)
- Eye and ear protection (loaners are available)
- 250 rounds of ammunition in the caliber specific to your carbine
-50 rounds of ammunition in the caliber specific to your pistol
